EVENT #2 Communication

Jon & Sean

We wanted to follow-up last nights event and
thank everyone for joining us. There were so
many friends and colleagues. It really has made
AtRandom a community event. It was so great
to see students and designers from a range of
disciplines have a chance to ask questions and
begin to see other practices and disciplines in
ways that "invite" them to participate.

It was so great to see how Elena presented
her work. Her use of video really introduced
a different perspective (time and motion)
to understanding the form of her clothing
and architecture. It really provided something
you don't get from the still photography
andthe website alone. Thank you Elena
for such a thoughtful presentation.

Thanks again everyone, we will post event_02
images soon, until then below is a quick peek.

Check back for AtRandom_02.5 in the Fall!

Hi Jon,
Thank you for your email.

-I will bring a dress and a dress form
-I have my own laptop (I have a PC and I will
need speakers for the video. Is it possible?)
-I looked at the link, thank you for arranging all this!

All the best,
Elena

Elena , I took some time yesterday and looked
through the work on your website some more
www.ateliermanferdini.com and found the
relationship between the different pieces so
wonderful. Your applying these formal
investigations to such a range of media.
I'm really excited to hear you discuss and
share the experience and your practice.

AtRandom Editorial Note

This _02 event continues AtRandoms' mission
of "expanding dialogues by looking to makers
working with/in associative disciplines."

Where Harmen Liemburg (EVENT_01) referenced
his journey along “American Roadsides” for inspiration to pull into his graphic and illustrated silhouettescapes, Elena Manferdini EVENT_02,
continues the conversation with her investigations
into two and three dimensional form and surface.
She takes these making strategies and transposes
them between fashion and architecture to inspire
new languages in her “Habit Habitats.”

Jon and I encourage you to pass along invitations
to this free transdisciplinary event that will enable
designers from many fields an entry point to
inspiration.

We look forward to seeing everyone again,
until then all the best.
