EVENT #1 Communication

Sean

It was so great to see everyone last night.
And from so many different places.

We even had a few design students from
EagleRock High show up. They saw the
event listed on a community events board.
(how it got there we're not quite certain,
but it was for the better.)

Harmen, once again, thank you for such a
great exhibition and presentation.

I would encourage anyone who may have
any follow-up questions to submit them here.
We will be checking in frequently to respond.

see you soon.

PS. I like the idea of the pot luck,
Jon what do you think?

Sean
No worries, I added a redirect from the old page,
that's what you were seeing.

Make sure you clear your cache as well, sometimes
that keeps the page from updating in your browser.

It was great seeing you today and looking at the
space, very exciting!

right after that. expect me at your place between 12
and 12:30. i hope you can stay up late!

we'll talk more when i get there, okay? (i'm totally
and entirely waisted...)

see you tomorrow,

harmen

Jon & Sean-
So, I finally got my first print done here at MCAD
last week. It's a conmemorative poster for Santiago
Piedrafita, who's been chairing the design program
for the past few years, and is now moving to chair
the North Caroline State program. MCAD a farewell
party, which inspired Kindra Murphy and me to
create a piece, using stuff from her collections of
printed ephemera. Clips from the separations were
used as background projections, which worked pretty
good. Other faculty made it even better by adding
texts and drawings to the print.

The size, 28 x 40, is not neccesarily the biggest I
could do on this table, but there simply is no bigger
industrial paper avialable that is suitable for water-
based screenprinting (not that I know of...) I'm
struggling with these things, as it's keeping me away
from making design descisions and practical
progress. Anyway, I'm happy things are leading to
something concrete now. Last monday, I instructed
the eager beavers among my workshop students on
how to use the large screens and install the table for
neat poster printing.

In the meantime, I also designed a poster for the
"Seeing Red" project in Honolulu (opens september),
that will be printed by them, and today finished the
design of a poster for the Record show, a bi-monthly
record-lovers-event taking place here in Minneapolis.
For that, I was inspired by a television series called
"Taken" on 3 generations of alien abduction... I'll
start printing that one today, and hope to show you
some awesome results in a few weeks.

Over and out!

Harmen

hi sean en jon,

here's my 5 picture 'story'.
can you work with this?

i made a technical mistake here at mcad,
that will probably keep me from doing a larger
28 x 44 inch poster for the show.

what i can do instead is a 'regular' 19 x 25 inch.

unless you know so kickass screenprinting place
in LA i can use, i suggest we should settle for the
smaller one. what do you think?

good luck with the site,

harmen

Jon
hey harmen-
we are working on making the website for the events.
we have decided to do a unconventional presenter
biography. we are going to ask the speaker to send us
5 images that will function as a visual bio. we will
run the 5 images as a gif animation on the home page
of the website. the should be at least 300x300 pixels.
do you think you can do this? it can be anything you
want (photos/work/words...) as long as it tells
everyone something about you. let us know what you
think.

thanks-
Jon
